What is Tai Chi?

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a mix between healing art, religion and Martial Art, with emphasis on physical health and spiritual growth. The religious influences originates in the Taoist study known as Chi Kung, "The Excellence of Energy", which has its emphasis on physical health. T'ai Chi Ch'uan can be used as an effective self- defence system, but is practised in slow motion. T'ai Chi Ch'uan improves your balance and control over your body. The intention of T'ai Chi Ch'uan is not primarily to become a master of self-defence, but to become more aware of ones surroundings and strengthen ones ability to concentrate and focus on the important things in life.

History of Tai Chi

T'ai Chi Ch'uan was developed around 1,000 AD by monks who used these skills to defend themselves against bandits and looters.
